LACCD Sustainable Media Studio (SMS) is the video documentation unit of the LACCD Sustainable Building program, staffed by student intern filmmakers from the nine District campuses. It is operated for the Los Angeles Community College District by PVJOBS.
Using HD video, still photography and documentary techniques, the studio documents the ongoing construction progress of the District's transformative building program across all nine campuses and satellite campuses. Paid intern filmmakers are charged with all aspects of visual documentation and work at a professional level throughout the course of their one-year internship.
LACCD Sustainable Media Studio was recently featured in "The Implementer," the American College & University President's Climate Commitment's (ACUPCC) national newsletter. It was also recognized by the Governor's Environmental and Economic Leadership Awards (GEELA) and at the First Annual Community College Film Festival.
Through its documentation efforts, the SMS is committed to "shooting a green tomorrow, today" in order to provide an important historical record for District, campus and community stakeholders.
