Volunteers

PVJOBS is seeking volunteers to become youth mentors, or board members, and/or assist in event coordinating. Volunteers must be committed to our mission. PVJOBS works to place at-risk youth, adults, veterans and students in meaningful, career-track employment in construction related trades. Several thousand clients, many with serious barriers to employment, have turned their lives around, achieving economic independence and supporting their families through PVJOBS’ many programs.

Youth Mentors will assist young people who have been involved in the juvenile justice system by actively listening, empathizing and creating a trusting bond which will help mentees as they work toward acquiring their high school diplomas and achieving career goals. Mentors are encouraged to attend monthly events at PVJOBS to connect with their mentees as well as support their efforts to achieve goals identified in their Individual Career Development Plans. Mentors should plan to dedicate eight hours a month to interact with their mentees via text, telephone, email or in person and share professional knowledge in their specific career field for our career exploration sessions. If you are interested in bringing your compassionate and caring support to these youth, contact Sabrina Hsu at Shsu@pvjobs.org or call 323.432.3916.

Committed Board Members are needed to offer fiscal oversight to the organization; assist with fund development by networking with local businesses; and follow through with PVJOBS’ outlined Strategic Plan. Volunteer your professional skills to help our nonprofit organization grow! Dinner Board Meetings are held each fourth Monday of the month, from 6 to 8:30pm to view our current board, visit http://pvjobs.org/about/board.asp.

Enthusiastic Development Volunteers are need to assist with grant-writing, seeking out foundation funding, social media marketing and event planning. Do you have strong people and communication skills? Do you enjoy planning non-profit events? Are you skilled at getting companies to donate sponsorships and auction items? Committee meetings are held at 5pm on the fourth Monday of each month leading up to the fall event. Committee members need to have a passion for helping people and have the drive and skills to make this awesome event happen!
