2012 Southern California Construction Compliance Summit
Construction contractors joined government agency representatives, leaders of community-based organizations and other prominent community members at the 2012 Southern California Construction Compliance Summit held Thursday, September 27th at the Carson Community Center.
Topics included the challenges of utilizing DBE/DVBE/MBE/SEB/UDBE and WBE businesses; the new norm of hiring local and disadvantaged workers; and the difference between union and nonunion contracting. This free event was sponsored by the United Job Creation Council; the National Association of Minority Contractors, Southern California; and PVJOBS.
"This event was for contractors and subs interested in compliances issues and potential solutions and is just the beginning of a strategy to fill the construction industry's long-held need for a forum where they can connect to vital community services and appropriate business partners." PVJOBS Executive Director, Ernest Roberts said.
"Attendees left the event well-versed in local government compliance issues," Roberts said. 'We all feel that job creation in our industry will lead the way out of our nation's economic downturn and this summit was a step in the right direction."
